Paddle Canada Basic Kayak Certification

This is a one-day program designed to provide paddlers with an introductory level of knowledge and skills to flatwater sea kayaking. Candidates upon completion will receive a nationally recognition certification through Paddle Canada.

Location: FreshAir Adventure’s Home base in Alma, NB

Price: $200 + HST

What is Included: Equipment, Lunch, and Paddle Canada Fees. We encourage candidates to use their own equipment as long as they are designed for open water conditions. Rentals available if needed.

Lodging: Camping is available in Fundy National Park. We would be happy to suggest other accommodations in the area.

Course Objectives

Candidates will develop and practice the following skills during on water sessions:

  • Launch/Landing techniques
  • Strokes: Forward, Reverse, turning, sideways displacement and recovery
  • Rescue: Wet Exit, Assisted Rescue, Swamped boat
  • Boat Tilt and Edge Control

Theory Session will include:

  • Equipment used in Sea Kayak
  • Safety Equipment and Regulations
  • Equipment Care
  • Kayaking Resources
