Honour the land. Respect the waters. Walk with care.

At Kayak Fundy, we’re passionate about the remarkable environment that surrounds us – home to the longest undeveloped stretch of coastline on North America’s eastern seaboard. We believe the tidal seaboard, along with the communities, parklands, fields, rivers, and forests of the Upper Bay of Fundy, are part of a living system that holds both value and dignity. We invite all our guests to share in that respect by taking part in our Visitor’s Pledge when they book a tour with us.

The Bay of Fundy, recognised as a “Natural Wonder of the World”, is vital for species habitat and rivals the biodiversity of the Amazon Rainforest. Its coastlines, tidal wetlands, and forested highlands form part of the Wabanaki Forest: the most biodiverse forest type in North America.

Layered within this natural abundance are the deep cultural roots of Indigenous Peoples and Acadian settlers who have shaped, stewarded, and sustained these lands and waters across centuries. This region is further distinguished by two UNESCO designations: the Fundy Biosphere Region and Stonehammer Geopark.

These living landscapes inspire hope for a future where nature and heritage are respected and protected.

This is our Pledge to Fundy and its surrounding communities:

I pledge to explore Fundy’s wild places with care, leaving no trace and respecting the delicate balance of coast, forest, and tide. I will reduce my impact, tread lightly on trails, and preserve the natural and historic elements I encounter along the way. I will travel with intention – carrying out what I bring in, respecting fire safety, and letting nature remain undisturbed.

I pledge to celebrate the rich cultural fabric of this region, shaped by Indigenous Peoples, Acadian settlers, and generations of those who have called it home. I will engage with local communities with openness and respect, appreciating the traditions, stories, and creative expressions that reflect this place.

I pledge to observe wildlife from a distance, to never feed animals or disrupt their habitat, and to ensure my presence does not interfere with the natural rhythms of the land. I will protect the wellbeing of all living things by storing food properly and keeping pets under control.

I pledge to support local businesses, accommodations, and artisans who sustain the character and economy of this region. I will choose experiences and purchases that are rooted in the community and reflect the unique identity of New Brunswick, especially those marked “Made in NB.”

I pledge to share space responsibly – whether on trails, roads, or viewpoints – by being courteous, quiet, and conscious of others. I will walk, bike, or carpool when possible and be thoughtful about where and when I travel to reduce crowding.

I pledge to plan ahead, stay safe, and be prepared for Fundy’s changing weather, shifting tides, and rugged terrain. I will read local guidance, follow posted signs, and travel with awareness and care.

By taking this pledge, I commit to being a respectful and responsible guest in the Fundy region – honouring its past, preserving its present, and protecting its future.
